Meet Verena - Accounting Manager
Verena started her career at PMI in our Marketing function. “After university, I was first a Marketing and Sales trainee, and eventually became a Brand Executive in Switzerland,” she explains. Then, she decided to make a major career change. “I decided I wanted to work in PMI’s Financial function, in Corporate Audit.” She says she was attracted to Corporate Audit because of the global perspective and diversity this function provides. “I love that I get to see how everything in this large international company works, and help improve our processes.”

Verena’s current adventure began when we offered her an assignment in Dakar, Senegal. “I was leading the Corporate Audit team, when we realized there were a lot of areas for improvement in the financial processes there. So I took the position of Accounting Manager.” With her team of eight, Verena performs the accounting related to the activities of our West and Central African markets including invoice processing, fixed asset accounting, and more. On top of these responsibilities, she takes the time to mentor junior employees. Relocating to Senegal has expanded her knowledge, and also her horizons. She learns something new about Senegalese culture every day.
When asked what she appreciates most about PMI, Verena answers: “How many places would let you move from Marketing to Finance? PMI is pretty unique. You don’t start somewhere just to be stuck there. It really is a world of opportunities.” Want to chart your own course? Come join our team.
