Philip Morris International (PMI) responds to Alexander Dobrovinsky's paid advertisement addressed to PMI Shareholders in the Washington Post
October 29, 2010
Recently Alexander Dobrovinsky, an attorney acting on behalf of Armen Yeganyan has made a series of allegations regarding Igor Kesaev and events related to ownership of a brandy company called KIN. Igor Kesaev is the owner of Megapolis, the distributor for Philip Morris International products sold in Russia.
We have reviewed the accusations made by Alexander Dobrovinsky regarding Mr. Kesaev and would like to assure our shareholders that we are aware of no evidence that supports any of these claims. Philip Morris International Affiliates in Russia have been conducting tobacco-related business with Mr. Kesaev in Russia for a number of years but have no connection to any non-tobacco related businesses or knowledge of the alleged events referred to by Mr. Dobrovinsky.
We have communicated these same points to Mr. Dobrovinsky on October 4, 2010 in response to his letter of September 30, 2010.
