Ultimately, by delivering our smoke-free and beyond nicotine future, your work could change the lives of millions. Your ‘day to day’ You will be employed in our electronics office in Shenzhen. We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to be the owner of the firmware of software product(s) for wireless connectivity consumer devices. You will conduct software architecture design and detail coding according to the product backlog; and to help define and implement the software development process for the team and to ensure product quality as well as traceability. Accountabilities • To derive detail software requirement from high level product and feature specifications of wireless consumer electronic devices. • To define the software architecture for different product platforms and to ensure maximum reuse across the platforms, so as to increase design / debug efficiency. Able to consider end-to-end from mobile app to cloud and to device, to ensure the design is optimal and secure. To identify potential risks and implement the mitigation plans at the design stage. • To define the security process in device provisioning and data exchange between the device and cloud. To define the IoT process and protocol to ensure optimal design for data bandwidth, latency and robustness to cybersecurity. • To define and implement the software development process so as to ensure quality and traceability to the software deliverables. • To conduct detail coding or manage vendors to deliver the software deliverables according to the quality matrix defined. To ensure unit tests are conducted in system level (not just the component level) before QA testing. To minimize the bug count from the QA test. • To ensure quality documentation for all the designs, test plans and test results, according to the configuration management plan. • To ensure the best solution and design practice are adapted; to keep track of the latest technology development and recommend the mid-term and long-term strategic roadmap. We are looking for • University degree in Software Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum of 10+ years of related software development experience, in consumer electronics, automotive industry, medical devices or scientific instrumentations, etc. • Solid experience in embedded software development, RTOS and/or embedded Linux system. • Strong mindset in software development process to ensure quality and traceability of the software deliverables. Able to foresee the risks and implement the risk mitigation plan during the design stage. • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: o Embedded software architecture and design: To optimize the system resources and current drain. o Wireless connectivity modem and SoC (WiFi and BLE): To integrate the wireless connectivity stack software and design the application software to ensure good user experience. o Cybersecurity: To ensure best practice is implemented for device provisioning and data exchange between the cloud servers, without compromise any user data. To ensure best IoT system solution is chosen to meet the key performance indices, latency, bandwidth, security, etc. • A stakeholder of the software module, an advocate of the system architecture and a good team player to ensure products to be shipped on-time with quality. • Good command of English is a must • Good communication skills and stakeholders management What we offer Our success depends on the men and women who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
