You will be employed in Shenzhen, China. We are looking for a Senior Engineer – Reliability to plan and execute activities for Reliability testing as well as failure investigation activities on electronic products through the application of scientific or engineering skills and knowledge with special emphasis on product reliability. Key Accountabilities: Reliability Engineering: • Develop test protocols and methodologies to ensure robustness, durability and reliability of products, sub-systems or components. • Develop reliability test plans, including climate environment, mechanical stresses, cycling tests, Accelerated Lifetime Tests (ALT), Highly Accelerated Life Test and Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HALT/HASS) and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT) • Use statistical life data analysis methods to analyse test results for reliability modelling • Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure Design For Reliability (DFR) methodologies are understood and applied along the entire lifecycle process (reliability system modelling, degradation analysis, Physics of Failure, Root Cause analysis, etc.) • Create and drive new reliability programs with suppliers. Defect Management: • Act as subject matter experts to address any deficiencies or defects found during testing. • Participate in the defect tracking system meetings and ensure defects arising from reliability studies are investigated and root cause identified. • Collaborate closely with operation team and external partners to ensure reliability related CAPA’s or improvement actions are implemented in timely manner. • May develop and recommend technical alternatives and design improvements. • Participate as SME in the creation of the fault tree for new products ensuring a smooth handover to quality and markets. Risk Assessment: • Conduct probabilistic models (PRA and stress-strength analysis) for critical design reliability decision-making • Perform qualitative and quantitative design risk assessment (design FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree analysis) of the product in collaboration with cross-functional team. Quality Management System (QMS): • Build/maintain Procedures (SOP) related to his/her functional area. • Assist in best practices (BEP) creation/maintenance. Laboratory operations: • Investigate appropriate new technologies for testing methods and lead the development and/or improvement projects • Collaborate closely with external partners on the technical aspects relating to reliability. Who we’re looking for: • Master or Bachelor in Electrical / Mechanical / Material Science Engineering, Micro-engineering or Physics • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience in Reliability Testing and/or Quality Engineering or related field. • Experience in mechanical, electrical, material, chemical and climatic reliability testing of consumer electronics devices (shock/drop/vibration tests, environmental Test, ...etc.) • Experience in safety and reliability assessment of battery operated hand-held consumer devices. • Experience in consumer product failure analysis (root cause analysis) and defect management of embedded electronic systems. • Experience in statistical life data analysis and Design for Reliability (DFR) methodologies • Knowledge of industry test standards such as UL, IEC, and ISO... • Experience with local and international suppliers for delivery on quality and time Displaying the following traits would be an advantage: • Analytical and inquisitive mindset. • Ability to independently address technical problems where few precedents exist. • Ability to tailor technical message to various audience • Well developed interpersonal and communications skills essential for working in multi-functional teams. • Fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin is a must Philip Morris International: Delivering a Smoke-Free Future Philip Morris International (PMI) is a leading international tobacco company engaged in the manufacture and sale of cigarettes, smoke-free products and associated electronic devices and accessories, and other nicotine-containing products in over 180 markets.
