As a member of the EU External Affairs Team, you will be responsible for engaging with EU institutions and other external stakeholders to further improve PMI's credibility and build tobacco harm reduction awareness. You will work to gain support and help create the regulatory framework and environment that recognizes non combustible tobacco products as a better choice for adult smokers. The Manager EU Affairs will be based in PMIs EU office in Brussels (with a requirement for travel), and will report directly to the External Affairs Director. He / she will promote Philip Morris views to EU decision-makers and other stakeholders and ensure the development of a policy framework which supports PMIs transition to a smoke-free future. More specifically the candidate will develop advocacy strategies, monitor policy developments at EU level and supports the definition of policy positions and undertake advocacy activities in line with the agreed strategy. The role will also involve maintaining the dialogue between PMI and various external stakeholders in specific regions – including regional or country specific advocacy planning. In this role, you will: • Drive and develop strategic engagement plans that increase PMIs harm reduction policy recognition • Identify legislative and regulatory opportunities and challenges • Assist with identifying, monitoring and influencing all business critical political and policy developments • Developing key expertise areas and providing recommendations on positioning • Represent PMI and promote its interests at key events (conferences, workshops, meetings), seeking opportunities to build relationships in relative regulatory programs and initiatives • Promote activities sought at reinforcing PMIs image, business and products awareness amongst Institutional Stakeholders Desired profile: • Bachelor or Master degree in Political Science, Law, Economy or European studies, Public Administration or related subject area • Proven professional experience, stemming from work in or with the EU institutions, political work, consultancies, NGO or think thank experience • Extensive understanding of the EU institutions with proven records in outreach activities and established network of contacts in key EU institutions, especially EU Parliament and EU Commission • Politically connected with a good understanding of sustainable growth and prosperity where the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals play a meaningful role • A strong business sense and the ability to act as the bridge between the political and business environments • Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
