Your 'day to day' As the Sr Officer IP Management you will ensure IP protection of PMI products. You will be responsible with the strategic development and management of intellectual property rights arising from PMI business (products and technologies). You will oversee the growth and maintenance of the various RRP/LS/Conventional and/or other patent portfolios. More specifically, you will: • Drive the growth of the IP portfolio and close portfolio gaps based on competitor analysis and PMI commercialization plans. Identify and capture potential inventions, drive the timely preparation and filing of invention disclosures, provide landscapes and background IP to aid Product Development / LS or other engineers and scientists to meet relevant development timelines. • Instruct the drafting and prosecution of patent applications to IPLG ensuring correct claim scope - both at filing and throughout prosecution - to have alignment with the company's business strategy. Manage 12-month and 30-month filing decisions in regard to business relevance and portfolio maintenance - coordinating input from relevant business partners when necessary - ensuring broad IP protection of the RRP / LS and/or other platforms and other valuable inventions. Instruct auxiliary claim scope and align arguments when opposition proceedings against the internal PMP portfolio arise. • Actively define and implement an IP Strategy: assess and value inventions, e.g. by scoring process, and recommend protection mode. Establish a cooperative environment between the team and the main stake holder to strengthen communication and trust. • Manage all capture activities and ensure smooth transition of invention capture from the IP Management group to the Patents Legal group to allow timely and efficient application filing. Ensure visibility and action-oriented planning to overcome third party patents, including coordinating and driving design-arounds and instructing technical teams on the path forward. • Regularly report out monthly highlights and quarterly updates related to the internal R&D portfolio. Prepare and present regular summaries on organic growth of RRP IP Portfolio to Manager and Senior Management. Prepare platform and technology dives to yield insight into the IP Protection Coverage of the internal IP Portfolio. • Perform and coordinate prior art patent and literature searches through efficient use of external service providers, and provide feedback to inventors. Identify opportunities for filing patent applications through assessment of the patentability of new inventions. • Ensure the correct and efficient coordination between the other departments in the IPM organization, to guarantee cooperation and team work. Who we're looking for • University/Master Degree in a relevant field • Training Course on European Patent Law (Center for International Intellectual Property Studies) or European Qualifying Examination (EQE) exam study is a plus • Technical understanding of competent scientific technology applicable to PMI business • Strong understanding of patenting procedures and patents • Ability to cooperate in cross-functional international project teams • Quick learner with a pragmatic, analytical and autonomous mindset • Strong problem solving and organizational capabilities coupled with proven leadership skills • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization • Fluent English is a must What we offer Our success depends on the men and women who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
