We are seeking a talented Government Affairs Lead to join the Government and Regulatory Affairs team in Quebec/Atlantic Canada. YOU will be responsible for the management of RBH’s relationships with government and political stakeholders at the Federal level, including elected officials, public servants, political staff, and third-party organizations of a national level. YOU will have primary accountability for federal government relations and interactions and will works with the Manger, Government Relations, and peers to contribute to the development of the overall Government Relations (“GR”) team action plan within the External Affairs strategy. YOU are a great communicator with excellent written and oral communications skills and able to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. YOUR 'DAY TO DAY' • Acts as the primary federal government contact for RBH to advance the strategic positioning of the company and its public affairs strategy within circles of influence. • Meets with government officials on a regular basis to discuss issues/policies that relate to or will impact RBH’s business in both the near and long term. • Develops and implements action plans for specified corporate or commercial objectives for direct advocacy with government officials. • Coaches and prepares Managing Director & senior RBH executives for political interactions as needed, including a thorough and detailed briefing prior to official meetings. • Work alongside the regional GR Leads to develop specific legislative and regulatory priorities at the Federal government levels, based on RBH’s specific commercial needs and the opportunities that are available. • Support the design and implementation of tactical engagements to achieve these outcomes through clear objectives, goals, strategies, and measures . • Managing external vendors at the federal government level, including managing the consultants and national stakeholders within the Government Relations unit. • Overseeing the management of the corporate and commercial partners/stakeholders at both the national level, with whom RBH interacts in the context of public affairs. • Conducts research and analysis in support of advocacy activities and the development of public policy to support RBH’s business objectives. • Writes and disseminates briefing materials, to analyze government activities that could impact RBH business including but not limited to federal/provincial budget, Throne speeches, key government programs, etc. • Assesses the effectiveness of various government affairs initiatives. • Adhere to internal company policies Networks proactively with key influencers and stakeholders to build authentic, constructive, and trusting relationships with members of Canadian business, such as industry associations, think tanks, and where appropriate collaborate with Commercial on key supplier and vendor relationships. • Legislation Review - RBH Lead legislative review initiatives. YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON IF • You are eligible to act as a registered lobbyist with the federal government. • Minimum 7 years in government and/or public affairs role. • Corporate experience, preferably in a publicly-trade international, is required. • Familiarity with matrix-based organization is an asset. • Experience in federal or provincial politics is an asset. • Ability to work in a non-partisan manner and establish/maintain credibility and access across competing party lines. • Demonstrated results in advocating for regulatory or fiscal reform at the federal and/or provincial levels. • Established senior-level political contacts and the provincial and federal level across multiple political parties and demonstrated ability to expand network, from a deputy minister to a chief of staff to a Minister or Premier. • Detailed understand of Canadian political system and current political dynamics. • Demonstrable experience researching and monitoring public policy and legislative developments • Experience preparing communications materials, including briefing and background notes, newsletters, and website content.
