We are looking for a skilled and passionate Engineering Manager to join our Centre of Excellence to build and scale effective software solutions for our Consumer IoT Products. As an Engineering Manager in this domain, you will have the opportunity to deliver high value, differentiating and impactful applications that will interface with our end customers and support the development, production, and user experience of our products. The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic self-starter with deep expertise in complex backend structures capable of working with different integrated systems. Responsibilities: • Manage software development teams • Co-own the development roadmap for 2 to 4 development teams, while working closely with the Engineering Leads, Product Managers, and other Stakeholders • Serve as a people manager for your teams with responsibility for establishing objectives, providing feedback, fostering career development, and providing active coaching of associates • Create, improve, and guide processes, tools, and techniques toward developer efficiency and productivity • Help foster a safe, open, customer-centric, risk-taking, and high-performing team culture • Guide the team toward the technical practices, framework, and architecture decisions that make sustainable and valuable tradeoffs • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, on-time delivery of commitments and effective communication with our stakeholders and management • Participate in technical discussions with your teams and make sure that their decisions are moving in the right direction • Identify roadblocks, dependencies and other issues and work with multiple teams across the organization to resolve these issues • Coordinate people, tools, and time to consistently deliver high-quality software within an Agile mindset • Identify opportunities for improvements and drive changes as necessary • Co-own Chapters roadmap, 1 to 2 Chapters, alongside with Chapter Leads to deliver standards, practices, and tools to the Engineering Community at PMI Facilitates discussions across teams, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to share their opinion and be heard and that discussion outcomes tie to stated goals • Actively mentors in an open, respectful, flexible, empathetic manner. Foster a culture of mentoring by seeking out mentoring opportunities for themselves and others, including supporting their growth Background and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Software Engineering with appropriate experience • Work experience as a people manager in software development organizations • Experience shaping career paths, goals, and opportunities for Engineers to grow • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a distributed team • Experience creating technical scopes, technical requirements documents, and technical roadmaps. • Ability to quickly learn new domains and technologies • Experience working in technical roles, including software development, reliability engineering, or live service operations • Ability to understand technical requirements and communicate with authority at a technical level • Experience operating in a complex, agile delivery environment • Customer service mindset, including continuous improvement and the ability to deliver multiple priority projects with high customer satisfaction in a rapidly changing environment • Ability to take ownership of decisions made in the engineering organization by helping stakeholders make clear decisions in alignment with organizational goals, backing decisions made, and taking responsibility for their success • Able to consistently navigate across several teams by having conversations based on organizational strategy and principles to create alignment.
