Your ‘day to day’: As Sustainability Engineer you will be part of Sustainability Department for Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna and will be reporting to the Manager Sustainability. The position will be based in Bologna, Italy. In your role you will develop and deploy the environment, health, safety (Sustainability) systems programs and EHS Pillar tools/systems, aligned with business needs, in accordance with OGSM and legal requirements. You will also continuously improve the systems based on benchmark, reapplication, audit results, incident investigations, business and process changes. You will act as professional Sustainability reference and point of contact. Finally, you will plan, Execute and Monitor functional Sustainability and EHS Pillar activities to ensure the capability deployment of the factory, eliminating and decreasing the risk levels. Specific responsibilities include: • Assist in developing autonomous/self-sufficient teams according to EHS Pillar capabilities, through the line structures. Contribute to the Sustainability strategy definition (linked to Open+/IOS) for the factory. Act as role model of Safety / Sustainability with Learn Do Teach approach. Implement the Department and EHS Pillar plan/activities, by acting daily according with defined plans. Giving advice and coach support to the managers and supervisors to engage the employees to behave according to Sustainability policies and procedures, and Open+ phase deployment. Continuously seek to raise the awareness of supervisors and employees, according to the mature safety culture (Bradly curve) in order Drive the organization to ZERO Sustainability incidents/achieve Sustainability objectives and targets. Lead local project team in day to day basis following Digi Principle and VSU methodology being key contact between global product owner and affiliate. • Develop and implement in Permanente contractors the tools/system from in the EHS Pillar to drive them equally to ZERO Sustainability incidents. Coordinate programs to reduce waste and emissions and minimize use of energy and natural resources, towards carbon neutral factory. Monitor and analyse current usage and outputs with relevant departments highlighting areas for improvement, in order to achieve environmental key performance indicators and achieve continual improvement. Support the Sustainability projects and the EHS Pillar on the identification of the needs, weaknesses and/or emerging issues and propose solutions, in order to improve Sustainability performance and to achieve Sustainability objectives and targets - ZERO incidents. Participate to affiliate budget exercise through the development of projects and resources needed to close legal gaps, non compliances and Sustainability improvement needs; monitor agreed projects execution. • Develop, implement and monitor the Sustainability management system and the EHS Pillar. Execute a proactive loss prevention program including risk management (identification, assessment, and control), inspections, audits, and emergency planning, by monitoring their implementation, in order to eliminate or reduce health, safety and environmental risks to an acceptable level. Ensure that procedures are appropriated to the risk profile of the factory and accepted; the responsibilities are understood; and the programs are supported and continually improved. Monitor the technical certification of all new equipment brought into the factory, in order to eliminate or reduce risks and comply with legal requirements. Participate in Sustainability projects, by providing clarity on the integration of Sustainability requirements in the design, construction/installation and commissioning of new and/or revamped buildings, engineering works, machinery, and equipment. • Keep abreast with the latest Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental regulatory requirement and the latest technology on the prevention, control, in order to give advice and direction to the organization in meeting legal and company requirement. Ensure contractors compliance and with Sustainability legal and PMI requirements. Collaborate with the company medical doctor to ensure that potential workplace health issues are identified and dealt with. Be the professional reference for PPE and working tool selection. • Coordinate the accident investigation according to Sustainability Incident Management (SIM) through IPS/UPS analysis, reporting and maintain records of all incident/accident information accordingly, in order to allow Sustainability Department and Management to identify basic causes and take actions to prevent the incident to occur again. • Develop and implement Sustainability training modules and EHS Pillar tools/system, by analysing the training needs/aligned with Zero Loss Journey and Open+ phase deployment. Maintaining training records of employees, contractors and visitors, to ensure they fully understand the Sustainability aspects of their job and responsibilities and the ZERO incidents vison of the organization. Provide timely reporting of Sustainability / EHS Pillar performance indicators to factory management, cluster/region and Sustainability dept at OC, by ensuring the data is updated and accurate, in order to ensure reliability of the information. • Implement and test emergency preparedness program, in order to eliminate or minimize losses due emergency incident (as per PMI definition). • Recognize best practices internally and externally to prevent injury to employees, damage to the environment, minimize the business impact of foreseeable losses. Ensure consistent and straightforward communication and replication from any sources of learning (such as accidents, audits, benchmarking...). Requirements & Skills: • University: Bachelor/ Master Degree in Engineering/Science or technical high school diploma. Preferably in environmental/Sustainability/safety engineering or equivalent education. • Adequate qualification in Sustainability (EHS) in accordance with local legal requirements. • 1-5 years experience as EHS Specialist in a manufacturing environment. • Implementation/sustenance of legal requirements and applicable standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001. • Experience in organizational culture change is a plus. • Fluent Italian and English • Advanced knowledge in Risk Assessment • Ability to Implement/sustain ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 • LOTO and Machinery Safety (legal and BIC solutions) • Problem Solving / Investigation / Analytical thinking • Project management basic skills • AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship) and Carbon Nerutrality knowledge is a plus • Lean Management System/Tools (internal IWS/Open+) Recruiter: Rita Gherardi Employment Type: Permanent Relocation package offered What we offer: Our success depends on the men and women who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
