Your ‘day to day’ The Head of Engineering Data Platform Enablement is a leadership position within EAD Data Engineering team focused on adoption, provisioning, monitoring and automation of integrated Data Platform components and services with security, governance, and controls. This is a technical leadership role with people management responsibility to drive consistency, security and performance across data platform components necessary in a cloud-enabled framework that includes aspects like provisioning, monitoring, security, scalability, adoption of CICD (DevSecOps) within the data pipelines, APIs, platform level monitoring & alerting, data observability, data products consumption usage in batch, near realtime, streaming, realtime architecture frameworks. Collaborates with Data Engineering, Architecture, Technology & Platform Engineering teams to drive best practices like Infrastructure as Code, containerization, security by design, test automation, and monitoring of data pipelines. Ideal candidate should have hands-on experience leading teams, implementing and managing modern data stacks in a multi-cloud environment with acute understanding of providing end to end capabilities in a plug and play based model adhering to cloud-based architecture standards and best practices. Below are the main accountabilities by area of responsibility: • Establish and manage team of professionals comprising Data Platform Solution Engineering, Security, CICD, Orchestration and APIs, IaaC specialists • Collaborates with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to improve performance of data pipelines and data products, deliver on new capabilities like streaming, pub/sub, data exchange/sharing, assist with evolving data platform landscape in sync with overall digital transformation strategy - Cloud, SaaS and multi-cloud environments • Manages licenses for tools like ELT, DQ, MDM, etc. • Coordinates with Security and Governance team to identify threats, risks and issues, and engage the appropriate areas within EAD for mitigation and resolution • Drive strategy, implementation, and oversight of a modern data platform with a vision towards future incorporating graph technology, AI capabilities, big data scale performance, Data Platform as a Service. • Manage an inclusion & caring culture by rewarding performance, actively coaching and mentoring direct reports with regular feedback, and developing employees for wider roles & responsibilities to foster professional growth, collaboration, and creativity. • Manage stakeholders from Governance, Delivery, Architecture, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Run and Support to maximize value from Data Platform capabilities across the Enterprise • Evangelize high quality software engineering practices towards building data infrastructure and pipelines at scale • Contribute to shared Data Engineering tooling & standards to improve the productivity and quality of output for Data Engineers across the company • Mentor team members by giving/receiving actionable feedback Who we’re looking for Education: • Bachelor/Master degree in Engineering, Information Management or Information Technology, • Fluent English, both written and spoken Work experience: • Minimum 5 to 10 years in an architecture, governance, compliance or IS functions • Minimum 3 to 5 years in a multinational corporate environment demonstrating exposure and/or expertise in Commercial, Marketing, Consumers, Commerce. Combining with Project Management would be a plus. Skills and expertise: • Able to lead and motivate global cross-functional teams • Deep and broad knowledge of data platform components and tools: ETL/ELT, Ingestion, curate and publish, consumption, data warehouse/lake/ocean on the cloud, data quality, master data • Proven experience with enabling cloud services for end-to-end data platforms (preferably AWS, Snowflake) • DevSecOps, Infrastructure as code, productization of integrated components into a data platform product catalog for distribution at enterprise scale with adequate monitoring and controls • Knowledge of open source platforms in the data domain preferred • Exhibits acute business acumen and understanding of organizational data issues and challenges • Leader who collaborates effectively across corporate and regions with strong influencing capabilities that can build consensus and drive change • Ability to think strategically while operating tactically to implement a global data platform stack • Knowledge of data management solutions is a plus (SAP Intelligence Hub, SAP Information Steward, SAP Master Data Governance, Talend, IBM Infosphere, Reltio, Ataccama etc.) • Strong communication and writing skills in English • Strong Cloud computing and data warehousing knowledge preferred (ideally AWS, Snowflake) • Procedural knowledge of modern data stack technologies preferred including contemporary languages like Python and Scala, and large data processing engines like Spark • Storytelling ability using data and technology to communicate value and break barriers between Data Producers, Data Consumers, Data Engineers, and Infrastructure teams This position can be based out of London, Lausanne, Amsterdam.
