The Role To contribute to building the regulatory framework and environment necessary for successful commercialization of PMI’s reduced risk products (RRPs) by driving the engagement with key external stakeholders (e.g., Scientific experts, HCPs, congress, and academic societies) to further improve PMI's scientific credibility and build tobacco harm reduction (THR) awareness, as well as to mitigate and manage strong opposition by anti-tobacco organizations and scientific & medical communities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Strongly contribute to planning of scientific & medical engagement strategy by closely working together with Manager Scientific Liaison & Operations. Independently manage and execute the engagement plan in collaboration with Manager Scientific Liaison & Operations. • Drive engagement with key external stakeholders (e.g., Scientific experts, HCPs, congress, medical and academic societies) with medical/scientific integrity. Ensure compliant and productive communications (i.e., scientific exchange). • Contribute to identifying the associations who have an impact on PMJ's business and build and maintain relationships that enable close and effective dialogue and cooperation. • Attend key domestic and international academic congresses for medical/scientific competitive intelligence. Execute on-site scientific engagement with external experts to collect and analyze the latest scientific information, data gaps, and relevant stakeholders and society insights into PMI/PMJ's business. • Contribute to RRP product safety management/monitoring activities to provide scientific information, suggestions, and support internally. Engage external stakeholders as necessary through timely and transparent communication and information sharing. • Support other activities which Science Affairs/External Affairs have responsibility for planning and execution. • Guide and supervise Scientific Operations Executive in execution of the initiatives, aligned with Mgr. Scientific Liaison & Strategy. QUALIFICATIONS • University – Master (e.g., Master of Science) or higher degree(s) in biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, life science and/or equivalent fields of study will be considered as priority. A doctoral degree (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD) is preferable. • Fluent in Japanese and advanced level of English • 10+ years of experience in a life-science/ pharmaceutical/ biotechnology company, or academic research organization with an in-depth understanding of science and technology are preferable. • 3+ years of experience in a leadership position in medical/scientific communication in healthcare field in a global setting will be considered with priority. • Strong business acumen with strategic and logical thinking, and highly effective analytic skills are required. • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively present ideas, and influence and negotiate with others. • Ability to strongly promote planning, preparation, and implementation of projects.
