We are looking to hire a best-in-class Legal Counsel to provide legal advisory and business partnering function for the operations of Philip Morris Taiwan, including advising on management and mitigation of legal risks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, defending regulatory challenges, supporting in contract negotiations and review, handling corporate governance matters, and monitoring of relevant legislative and regulatory developments. (Purpose) This position works closely with the management team and all business functions and working groups of the company, while reporting to Senior Counsel, to reach business objectives in a manner consistent with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. (Your "day to day") • Provide business functions with timely legal analysis and advice on all legal related matters, including corporate governance and compliance issues. To ensure the provision of optimal legal support through both internal and external resources. • Participate in business meetings to ensure compliance with the law and company policies, and that the legal interest of the company is protected. • Participate on project teams, ensuring that their decisions and recommendations protect the legal interests of the company, and execute decisions to achieve objectives on a timely basis. • Knowledgeable with respect to current and pending legislation, new legal development and guidelines relevant to the industry and business, and advise business accordingly. • To defend regulatory challenge cases by preparing the legal briefs and ability to lead the case, instruct, and coordinate with outside counsel. • To assist business functions with preparation and negotiation of agreements, review of contracts and documents. • To support Senior Counsel in the implementation of departmental plans and objectives, to deliver trainings to clients and third party agencies, handle company secretarial related manners, and ensure work quality of outside counsel. (Who we're looking for) • Demonstrate breadth and depth of local law expertise in developing legal assessments and defense briefs on regulatory and commercial activities, employing credible creative arguments in Taiwan law that enable the company to achieve business objectives. • Demonstrate proficiency in dealing with different aspects of risks operating in a multinational working environment, and the ability to use that knowledge and experience effectively to engage and influence stakeholders (internally and externally) showing sensitivity to, and understanding of, their differing needs and objectives. • Demonstrate strong communication, engagement and business partnering skills. • Demonstrate the ability to work sensitively, and effectively, within and across diverse teams. • Demonstrate authentic ambition, sense of urgency, agility and tenacity and a genuine commitment to revolutionizing the tobacco industry. • Demonstrate authentic ambition, sense of urgency, agility and tenacity and a genuine commitment to revolutionizing the tobacco industry.Demonstrate authentic ambition, sense of urgency, agility and tenacity and a genuine commitment to revolutionizing the tobacco industry. • Demonstrate authentic ambition, sense of urgency, agility and tenacity and a genuine commitment to revolutionizing the tobacco industry. • Good command of Mandarin and English • Admitted to Taiwan Bar. • Possess 5 to 10 years' professional qualified experience. Legal expertise on general corporate matters, administrative law, Consumer protection & Data Protection, competition law or employment law. Litigation experience will be a plus. • The ability to communicate professionally (oral or written) in both English and Chinese are highly preferred. • Possess a law degree from Taiwan law school and LLM degree in Taiwan or overseas is a plus.
