Your ‘day to day’ • Provides legal support to Counsels and Sr. Counsel in a wide variety of business topics, in order to offer the other functions a proper legal assessment of a given situation, identifying risks and consequences; • Interacts with colleagues from other local and regional functions and handles matters of small and medium complexity directly with internal clients, including managers; • Reviews, drafts, revises and negotiates a wide range of agreements with customers, vendors, partners, distributors, resellers and other third parties; • Provides support in the management of the portfolio of lawsuits and collaborates to work on strategies to reduce the contingencies and prevent future claims; • Coordinates legal hearings, prepares expert witnesses’ documentation, answers complaints, demand letters and official writs; • Handles corporate matters, such as power of attorney, minutes of shareholders/Board of Directors’ meetings and mandatory registration with Corporate Entities; • Follows up legislative and regulatory developments and analyzes federal and provincial tobacco legislation (e.g. cigarette labeling and advertising, competition law, labor law, etc), providing accurate and timely reporting to the rest of the Legal team; • Handles trademark portfolio (e.g. drafting license agreements, filing trademarks, analyzing the trademark’s gazette). Who we’re looking for • Law graduate and licensed to practice law is mandatory; • A Master's Degree in Business Law (or similar) will be valued, but it is not an exclusive requirement; • 3 years (since graduated) of experience in similar roles, in-house or law firms is mandatory; • Contractual experience is mandatory for the position; • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to handle multiple and conflicting priorities; • Public speaking and writing skills, with the confidence and credibility to act quickly, communicate effectively, and command respect of both internal and external audiences; • Advanced English (both written and verbal) is mandatory; • Computer skills, including MS Office; • Professionals with communication, planning, organization and priority setting skills.
