Your ‘day to day’ As Manager External Laboratories Development, you will drive the development of External Laboratories to meet PMI’s strategy allowing for enhanced business resilience, whilst optimizing the External Laboratories utilization, to support the PMI strategic projects. This position is key to lead the performance monitoring of the External Laboratories through defined and measurable metrics, ensuring they have defined action plans for continuous improvement. Together with Subject matter experts and key partners, you will drive improvements at External Laboratories to enhance standardization, speed, and reliability with the aim to gain productivity, leading to advances in supplier performance and cost base. You will also drive conformance expectations and execution of testing at External Laboratory Partners meets the ‘end-to-end’ requirements of PMI, with the agreed quality and precision standards met. More specifically, you'll • Drive the activation of External Laboratories as per the Global Footprint Strategy, to allow for evolution of the analytical capability. • Optimise the utilization of the External Laboratories, considering business needs evolution, whilst confirming that the External Laboratories can test to PMI agreed Quality Standards. • Lead the implementation of the ways of working with External Laboratory partners to continuously improve processes, enhancing clarity internally and to further accelerate supplier performance. • Supervise the performance of the External Laboratories, both analytically and operationally, through monitoring of leading metrics and compliance, developing a dashboard for quick review • Drive improvement processes with the External Laboratories and PMI team to deliver productivity gains, the improvement and governance linked to Quality Management System compliance from the External Laboratories, as well as excellence at External Laboratories to deliver testing to support strategic projects, including regulatory submissions • Hold External Labs accountable to meet PMI security requirements for Information and Product Security. Who we’re looking for • Master’s Degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences, or equivalent • Substantial experience in research and development laboratories within tobacco, food, or pharmaceutical industry • Demonstrated knowledge on laboratory quality management systems • Experience with service laboratories or Clinical Research Organizations, is an advantage • Sound track record in problem solving, team collaboration in cross-functional projects • Extensive Knowledge of portfolio and aerosol science and data interpretation an advantage • Creativity, willingness to always look for solutions and opportunities, as well as to take a challenge • Strong communication both verbally and in writing with various partners, with ability to find the outcome where everybody wins • Ability to work independently • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
