Your ‘day to day’ You will be employed under Philip Morris Electronics Shenzhen (PMES). PMES operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. As Senior Reliability Engineer you will plan and carry out activities for reliability testing, Design For Reliability as well as failure investigation activities on electronic devices through the application of scientific or engineering skills and knowledge with special emphasis on product reliability. More specifically, you'll • Develop reliability test plans, including environmental stresses, mechanical stresses, cycling tests, Accelerated Lifetime Tests (ALT), Highly Accelerated Life Test and Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HALT/HASS), Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT), burn-in and Environmental stress screening (ESS). • Drive and lead standard methodologies and findings across manufacturing sites and suppliers to improve ORT/HASS/ESS efficiency • Research and strategically implement system->device->module->component reliability testing where possible to continuously improve field product reliability and reduce costs • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure component reliability and providing recommendations to improve design and test • Create and drive new reliability programs within the suppliers ecosystem • Coordinate with various engineering functions to plan and drive the DFR (Design for Reliability) methodologies and detailed activities to demonstrate required product reliability performance • Be accountable to build robust Reliability Program Plan (RPP) for new products, periodically review/update the RPP and ensure results feed the right functions within the organization to achieve specified reliability targets and eliminate the risk of failure • Participate in design reviews and lead to the reliability section of the design review • Ensure reliability requirements are clearly and comprehensively expressed within Design Input Requirements and drive reliability allocation activities • Use statistical life data analysis methodologies to analyse test results for reliability modelling and run quantified risk assessments from Physics of Failure (PoF) approach • Act as specialist in a timely manner to raise any deficiencies or defects found during testing. • Participate in the defect tracking system meetings and ensure defects arising from reliability studies are investigated and root cause identified. • Develop and recommend technical alternatives and design improvements. • Help to build and maintain the reliability lessons learned system • Create/maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to the functional area • Assist in creating/maintain effective processes and ways of working. • Investigate appropriate new technologies for testing methodologies and lead the development and/or improvement projects • Liaise with external partners on the technical aspects relating to reliability. Who we’re looking for • Master or Bachelor in Electrical / Mechanical / Material Science Engineering, Micro-engineering or Physics (sound track record in reliability testing/engineering) • Minimum 6 years of work experience in Design For Reliability, Reliability Testing and/or Quality Engineering or related field, ideally in development projects as Product reliability Engineer • Experience in mechanical, electrical, material, chemical and climatic reliability testing of consumer electronics devices (shock/drop/vibration tests, environmental Test) • Expertise planning, implementing, carrying out and analysing early derisking tests • Demonstrated track record in statistical life data analysis, Design for Reliability (DFR) methodologies as well as RPP • Experience in safety and reliability assessment of battery operated hand-held consumer devices. • Expertise in consumer product failure analysis (root cause analysis) and defect management of embedded electronic systems, ideally using a liquid/solid/gaseous consumable • Experience in presenting reliability engineering concepts and results to broad audience of engineering and non-engineering leaders • Knowledge of industry test standards such as UL, IEC, and ISO • Experience with local and international suppliers for delivery on quality and time • Analytical and inquisitive mindset, ability to independently raise technical problems where few precedents exist, as well as to tailor technical message to various audience. Sound interpersonal and communications skills essential for working in multi-functional teams • Fluency in spoken and written English is a must, Mandarin is an advantage.
