Sampoerna Becomes Gotong Royong Vaccination Center in Karawang Industrial Area

Together with KADIN, Sampoerna has provided access to independent vaccination in Karawang Industrial Zone to accelerate vaccination process in the industrial area to support national economic recovery.

Karawang, 17 July 2021 – PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) provides the place and supporting facilities for Gotong Royong Vaccination Center held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). Sampoerna opens a portion of its production facility in Karawang for employees of the companies operating in Karawang International Industry City (KIIC) and the Surya Cipta Industrial Estate. The Gotong Royong Vaccination program is a collaboration between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and KADIN to support industry players to provide access to the COVID-19 vaccines for their employees.

President Director of Sampoerna, Mindaugas Trumpaitis said, “It takes a concerted effort and the involvement of all parties to get through this pandemic.  Helping to provide places and supporting facilities for a Vaccination Center represents our participation in preventing and mitigating the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia, in order to accelerate national economic recovery.”

There are more than 60,000 employees within the KIIC and Surya Cipta areas. Sampoerna's Gotong Royong Vaccination Center will help vaccinate more than 10,000 registered workers on 17-19 July 2021. The Vaccination Center is hoped to facilitate access and accelerate the vaccination process in the industrial areas as the essential sector in the economy.

Deputy Chairwoman of KADIN, Shinta Kamdani explained the ongoing efforts to accelerate the distribution of the independent vaccine allocation to businesses, “We are collaborating and cooperating with businesses to enable easier access to vaccines by providing vaccination centers, including the one with Sampoerna in Karawang.”

Previously, the Gotong Royong vaccination program was launched in Karawang Industrial Area on 18 May 2021 and 18 manufacturers participated the event. At the program’s launch, 40,000 employees were vaccinated, including 1,000 employees of Sampoerna.

“We are fully committed to support the efforts to facilitate vaccination access in Indonesia. This is a manifestation of our commitment to support the national economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mindaugas concluded.
