Jakarta, 10 September 2021 – Through the Sampoerna untuk Indonesia program, PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) donates IDR 6 billion to support Covid-19 handling through the humanitarian foundation of the Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Yayasan Kemanusiaan KADIN). The funds will be distributed to support Covid-19 handling through various programs, including mass vaccination, provision of oxygen supply, social aid, and other initiatives.

Sampoerna symbolically hands over the donation to KADIN Chairman Arsjad Rasjid at Menara Kadin Indonesia on Friday (10/9/2021).

Sampoerna President Director Mindaugas Trumpaitis, who attended the handover ceremony virtually, stated Sampoerna’s commitment to supporting the Government in achieving national economic recovery. The realization of this commitment includes supporting KADIN who is coordinating aids from the private sector.

“We sincerely appreciate and support KADIN’s program in Covid-19 handling. This donation is part of our ongoing collaboration between Sampoerna and KADIN, including the Gotong Royong independent vaccination program, mass vaccination program, and programs to fulfill oxygen needs, among others. We believe that through gotong royong and uniting our steps, we can get through this pandemic together,” said Mindaugas.

KADIN Chairman Arsjad Rasjid also stated the importance of collaboration between parties to contribute to handling the pandemic. He underlines KADIN’s effort in supporting the effort to reach herd immunity and to support economic recovery.

“Initiatives to handle the pandemic are still ongoing, and it requires the collaboration of all parties, including the private sector, to overcome the pandemic. At this point, all forms of donation and support will truly help, and we truly appreciate it. We hope through Sampoerna’s collaboration and support we can help to accelerate the ongoing handling of the pandemic,” said Arsjad.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Sampoerna has been actively participating in supporting national economic recovery. From implementing strict health protocols at Sampoerna’s production facilities and offices throughout Indonesia, vaccinating approximately 65,000 direct and indirect employees with the majority through the Gotong Royong Vaccination program, and through a host of other initiatives to support MSMEs as the backbone of the national economy.

“The way the Government, in collaboration with many parties including KADIN, managed to significantly reduce the number of daily cases that reached its peak in June and July is a true example of the value of strong partnerships and synergy. For this, we convey our deep appreciation,”
Mindaugas added.
