Approximately 6,200 people receives the Vaksinasi Gotong Royong from Sampoerna, including business partners, families of employees, and society at large across 10 Regencies/Cities.

Jakarta, 11 November 2021 – Through the Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia program PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) continues its commitment in supporting the government’s target to achieve herd immunity by holding a vaccination program for 6,200 people. The 6.200 beneficiaries include business partners, families of employees, and the surrounding community. The program is being rolled out in stages throughout November 2021 to cover 10 regencies/cities in Indonesia including Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Lampung, Pontianak, Makassar, Brebes, Purwokerto, Bantul, dan Lumajang.

The program is fully supported by Sampoerna and is part of the Vaksinasi Gotong Royong program by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).

The vaccine beneficiaries include the traditional retailers (toko kelontong) owners who are part of Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC). Founded in 2008, SRC is a community of toko kelontong who partners with and supported by Sampoerna, which now has 150,000 members across 34 provinces in Indonesia. During the pandemic, SRC supports the members in facing the challenges and adapt to the pandemic so they can not only thrive but continue to grow.

Sampoerna Head of External Affairs Ishak Danuningrat reiterates Sampoerna’s commitment to support national economic recovery. “We continue our effort to support the development of MSMEs in Indonesia, including the 150,000 toko kelontong within SRC, such as through socialization of health protocols, digitalization, as well as providing business guidance. The vaccination is one of our support for MSMEs and the society at large around our operational areas,” said Ishak.

During the vaccination program in Palembang (11/11), South Sumatera Vice Governor Mr. Mawardi Yahya also voiced his support, “on behalf of the people of South Sumatera, I would like to convey my appreciation to Sampoerna’s contribution through the Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia program in supporting the national economic recovery both at the national and regional levels. We fully support the vaccination program and the MSME empowerment program by the Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC).”

On a separate event, Brebes Regent Idza Priyanti stated that vaccination target is one of the key performance indicators in establishing the level of Covid-19 restrictions (pemberlakukan pembatasan kegiatan masyarakat, PPKM). This was cited as the reason as to why the Brebes Regency remained at PPKM Level 3.

“Brebes is still at PPKM Level 3, and to get to Level 2 requires us vaccination 75,000 more people. Fortunately, PT HM Sampoerna supported us with 1,800 doses of vaccines that we are distributing today,” said Brebes Regent Idza Priyanti in her opening remarks during the vaccination program across five districts in Brebes on Monday (1/11).

Previously, Sampoerna had administered support of approximately IDR 80 billion by working with CSR partners and synergizing with regional governments and other stakeholders. This commitment continues in 2021, where thus far Sampoerna had channeled over IDR 18 billion through various initiatives to support MSMEs and supporting pandemic handling in partnership with various parties, including KADIN Indonesia. Moreover, Sampoerna had also vaccinated 65,000 direct and indirect employees with the majority through Vaksinasi Gotong Royong.

“Supporting the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is one of the current priorities of Sampoerna Untuk Indonesia. The pandemic is not over yet and the best way we can reduce risk and walk towards the new normal is through vaccination and to continue adhering to the health protocols as advised by the government. We hope this program can offer the additional protection for the people so they can carry on with their activities more safely,” closed Ishak.
