Vita

What’s the culture like at Philip Morris Limited?

It’s very people focused and supportive. We have ambitious goals, but what I really like here is, if something is working, we praise and celebrate it. And if something doesn't work, we talk about it and look at what we can do better.

What does a typical day look like for you?

There’s no typical day really – that's the beauty of my role. It’s really fast-paced and change can happen quickly, so you need to be agile enough to adapt and replan. A lot of my role is about relationship-building, so each day I could be working with a lot of different people, whether that’s my direct team, the wider Field Force, or our retailers. You have to be clear in your goals and clear with your team on the strategies you need to deploy to achieve them.

Leading a Team to Success | PMI’s Field Force: Meet Vita

Team talking

What strategies have you adopted to meet high targets?

At the beginning of the month, we have a regional team meeting where we set our goals for the month. I break the expectations down for each team and discuss how we’re going to achieve them. Then it's about keeping on top of your numbers and keeping the energy and creativity high in the team.

How do you inspire and support your team in the field?

They’re working on their own, so we build a strong team feeling with regular meetings, forums, and group chats to share best practices. It's mostly about being available – providing clarity and direction and giving them space to deliver because they’re the experts in what they do. If something doesn't go according to plan, they know they can come to me and we’ll overcome it together.

How do you promote a work/life balance?

We’re very clear in terms of core expectations, but we always give people the flexibility to tailor their day. There's a lot of trust and give and take, because sometimes certain things need to be completed. But ultimately, you’re measured on your outcomes – how and where you deliver.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in Philip Morris Limited’s Field Force?

Just go for it! We have a really great vision, and Field Force is the team behind achieving it. Yes, it's fast paced and hard work, but equally, it's very rewarding. We look after and support each other.
