Pakistan, Karachi, 24th February, 2022: Acknowledging the efforts for the betterment of environment and society, leading multinational company, Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited (PMPKL) has been declared as the winner for awards in two categories: “Waste Management/Recycling” and “Green Energy Initiatives” at the 14th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2022 organized by National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) during a ceremony held in Islamabad.
NFEH is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with an aim to facilitate, promote and help create environmental, healthcare and educational awareness amongst the masses. NFEH annually evaluates and awards organizations which have a positive impact on the environment and society at large. The awards for “Waste Management/Recycling” and “Green Energy Initiatives” are in recognition of PMPKL’s efforts for its initiatives related to environmental, social and economic sustainability.
PMPKL joined hands with SEED Ventures to take forward the #MissionCleanerPakistan. #MissioncleanerPakistan is an anti-littering project under which, a cleanup drive was organized at Clifton Beach, Sea View, Karachi on World Cleanup Day. Under this mission, PMPKL conducted 20 anti-littering drives across Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Balakot, with more than 2400 volunteers collecting over 3300 KGs of trash. In addition to this, in line with its parent company, Phillip Morris International’s, vision to achieve carbon neutrality for direct operations by 2025, PMPKL has also worked on multiple energy saving initiatives at its manufacturing site that have helped in achieving 41% energy reduction compared with 2018 baseline.
