Welcome to Philip Morris Australia. Established in 1954 and based in Melbourne, Victoria, we were the first affiliate in the world to produce Philip Morris International brands outside of the United States.
After successfully manufacturing in our Moorabbin operations facilities for almost 60 years, cigarette production was discontinued and transitioned to PMI’s Korean affiliate in 2014.
In 2016, we relocated our Australian headquarters to a modern, new premises in the South Wharf precinct on the Yarra River in the heart of Melbourne. Philip Morris also has offices located in capital cities around the country, employing more than 500 people nationally.
As part of our commitment to contribute to the community, we partner with a number of charity organizations that offer assistance to underprivileged families and people affected by natural disasters or personal crises. One of our key partners is Habitat for Humanity (Victoria), which is building 25 new homes for families affected by the Black Saturday bushfire tragedy in regional Victoria in 2009. Philip Morris Australia is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC), a sustainable packaging initiative that aims to change the culture of business to design more sustainable packaging, increase recycling rates, and reduce packaging litter. It is an agreement between government, industry, and community groups to find and fund solutions to address packaging sustainability issues. Philip Morris Australia’s APC Action Plan is available HERE and our 2015 annual report is available HERE.
