Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) Receives Competition Bureau Clearance for Acquisition of Rothmans Inc.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2008--Regulatory News:
Philip Morris International Inc. (NYSE/Euronext Paris: PM) has
received an advance ruling certificate ("ARC") from the Canadian
Commissioner of Competition in connection with the company's proposed
acquisition of Rothmans Inc. (Rothmans).
The issuance of the ARC satisfies one of the conditions to the
company's offer dated August 7, 2008 that clearance be obtained under
the Competition Act (Canada).
The company's offer to acquire Rothmans is open for acceptance
until midnight (Vancouver time), at the end of September 11, 2008,
unless extended or withdrawn by the company. The offering documents
