About the Scientific Literature on Smoke-Free Products (SFP) project This is an internship opportunity for university students, who are required to complete a mandatory work experience as part of their study curriculum. The organization provides the practical work experience, with defined timeframes and objectives driven by university and curriculum. The experience may include a research project and / Masters thesis. The Publishing Team is responsible for the comprehensive research, analysis, and reporting of scientific literature related or relevant to PMI research and/or products. The creation of an exhaustive scientific literature database is critical to provide relevant, timely, targeted information to the entire PMI community (Life Sciences and beyond), enabling them to gain insights and make more informed decisions to support the PMI mission. Who we’re looking for · Currently studying for your Bachelor or Master’s degree in Life Sciences (in a field related to biology, pharmacy, chemistry, toxicology, epidemiology, clinical research) · Experience in database management · Expertise in using EndNote or other citation management systems · Experience in collecting, analyzing, and categorizing scientific publications · Familiarity with the scientific peer-review process · Familiarity with O365, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint · Familiarity with copyright licenses and permissions desirable · Professional-level English proficiency Description Reporting to the Scientific Editor and working closely with members across multiple departments, the intern will play a critical role in data collection, annotation, and curation for the Scientific Literature on Smoke-Free Products through diverse activities to gather, analyze, evaluate, and integrate information and analyze results using several literature databases. This intern must keep abreast of new scientific developments that are relevant to our smoke-free science and will present the newest external publications to our internal group meetings. Team participation in text mining software testing and implementation is expected, as well as collaborations with external international database management companies. Roles & Objectives Main accountabilities: · Construct a library on smoke-free product external literature published between the first introduction in the market (mid 2020s) until beginning of 2022 through these main activities: o Collect, annotate, analyze and interpret information from peer-reviewed scientific journals in a specific database (hosted in a cloud-based library) by applying specific scientific content knowledge. Extract and organize data into the required format and verify for accuracy. o Conduct independent research of scientific literature and other available research to add content to the database. Secondary accountabilities: · Support in automation of literature search, management, and scientific assessment for the Scientific Literature library · Build a reporting dashboard for the Scientific Literature library · Prepare and report external publications with statistics to internal stakeholders What we offer The intern would gain experience in the scientific publishing process and lifecycle, as well as publication analysis and project management.
