PMI’s shift from selling cigarettes to our new smoke-free products has changed the way we work. New products bring new challenges – in the way we source and buy raw materials, in the way we engineer and manufacture, and in our supply chain planning. Your ‘day to day’: As Product Services Engineer you will be part of Quality Department and you will report to the Supervisor Specifications. You will be based in Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna. In your role you will lead, plan, coordinate and execute new products’ projects, modified products or packaging related projects, product maintenances and productivity inside operations and with central functions, in order to ensure that these projects are implemented on time, in a cost effective manner according to all internal and external requirements. You will also support Production to ensure all new products or changes in existing products are well understood and executed in line with product requirements and leveraging on OPEN+ methodology. Finally, you will develop and implement new initiatives to shorten product launch cycles and procedures to minimize obsolete materials. Your Responsibilities: • In close cooperation with PPM(D) Project Leaders manage the implementation of new/modified products within the Factory by ensuring the internal and external communication flow among all departments committed to new product development and industrialization (Procurement, Engineering, Production, Planning, QA, Product Commercialization, Packaging and Product Development, SSC/CSA), guaranteeing timely coordination of production trials, specification/bill of materials request, in order to increase speed to Market and meet quality, equipment performance, quantity and IMS requirements. When needed, form, lead and coordinate project teams, to have successful production run within the factory. Oversee the first production (trial) in order to timely cope with issues impacting the product quality. Ensure passage of the G4 stage of the projects, if applicable. Prepare and distribute Final Report on the Project results. • Manage feasibility studies in order to validate factory capacity and technical capabilities to execute production of market projects, foresee and prevent potential problems that may occur during the production start up and ensure communication flow between the different departements involved. Liaise with internal stakeholders (ex: Engineering and Maintenance) to ensure / trigger purchasing process for DIM and some specific machine parts such as embossing rollers, PRIFs and any other needed parts inline with market requirements in order to achieve production readiness on time. Timely inform Project leaders of potential issues that can lead to project scope or project timeline changes. • Analyze product features and direct material base and propose the standardization of products and materials, leading to the reduction of complexity and higher manufacturing perfomance, reduction of stock items, improved warehousing utilization and therefore to reduction of supply chain costs. Lead/participate in ad-hoc projects leading to improvements of cost, safety, productivity and quality. Prepare and evaluate project post-launch assessment reports and analyze the causes of cost increases, delays and performance losses and make proposals for their elimination. Bassed on results make change proposals related to Product, Quality Management and Manufacturing standards according to needs. • Provide to the SLT, SC Planning and Production Department with high level project plans and detailed product description for each new finished product variant in order to produce it in line with specification and market requirements. Follow escalation process if delivery dates of DIM and semi-finished products for each new project are delayed, and liaise also with local MRP, CMRP or centrals procurement, proposing solutions to be validated by Markets. • Adhere and promote the commitment to all company's Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and instructions in order to ensure they are effectively implemented. Respect and comply with all job requirements concerning Quality and EHSS standards Management System and OPEN+ culture. Coordinates within Operations and central functions the preparation of product related submissions to authorities and supports CA in the product related engagements with authorities. Who we’re looking for: • College/University Master's degree in Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent (or corresponding skills through demonstrated experience) • 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance in tobacco, food, pharmaceutical or similar industry • Excellent information technology skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP). • Good knowledge of product quality, relevant standards (ISO, GMP) and tobacco regulations requirements. • Advanced knowledge on Quality tools, root cause analysis, analytical skills, statistical tool knowledge • Strong Customer Orientation and Problem Solving Attitude. Team work, action oriented, learning on the fly, listening, and communication skills • Fluent in English and Italian both written and spoken.
