Join us and use your legal skills for good: to change the lives of a billion smokers. For our Legal team in Lausanne, Switzerland, we are therefore looking for a Legal Counsel. In this position you will provide legal support to enable PMI's business and Smoke Free Future vision in the Swiss market. The position will be a member of the affiliate law department, working under the supervision of the Senior Counsel CH & CSC and supporting the affiliate to reach business objectives in a manner consistent with all relevant laws and regulations and embed PMI standards and perspectives into decision making. You will: Anticipate, identify and articulate relevant potential legal risks associated to the Swiss affiliate operations to provide legal solutions to enable business initiatives Lead the Brand Material Review process to ensure that advertising and promotions as well as new packaging developments fully comply with relevant PMI policies, guidelines and local laws. Educate and train business clients on applicable rules. Initiate the drafting of contracts, amendments and other documentation when necessary; ensure that all contracts and agreements executed by the Swiss affiliate protect their interests, support their respective business plans and are in compliance with applicable laws as well as with PMI policies and guidelines relating thereto. Provide various trainings notably on, Competition Law, Intellectual Property, FCPA to affiliate management and employees. Contribute to effective working relationships with other team members and work on a real-time basis in partnership with the business to deliver quality, proactive and pragmatic business centered advice designed to assist business colleagues’ decision making. Collaborate with outside counsel to enable delivery of quality, effective and efficient legal support at a reasonable cost and in accordance with the Philip Morris International Guidelines for Outside Counsel. Collaborate with relevant global subject matter experts to ensure consistency in quality legal advice. We’re looking for someone with: Strategic and consumer-centric mindset, contributing effectively as a member of the Swiss affiliate law department and advising business colleagues from all functions on legal, compliance and regulatory aspects of the Swiss affiliate operations.​ Strong mastery of relevant laws and regulations and business acumen to enable the delivery of innovative solutions through skillful yellow-zone decision making, readying the necessary defenses and documenting decision-making, as necessary.​ Knowledge of PBO-related practices to support a project-based organization.​ Ability to synthesize, crystalize and legal advice to ensure that it is persuasive and well understood.​ Holistic and analytical review, drafting and negotiating capability anchored upon a deep mastery of the business, relevant laws and PMI positions to protect PMI’s interests in a wide range of agreements with customers, vendors, partners, distributors, resellers and other third parties​ Demonstrates team-oriented style and positive attitude to contribute to the Swiss affiliate law department objective to deliver high quality legal advice​ Collaborative approach to ensure seamless collaboration with all relevant stakeholders across PMI. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple, conflicting priorities while managing a substantial workload and client expectations.​ Excellent interpersonal, networking, public speaking, and writing skills, with the confidence and credibility to act quickly, communicate effectively with diplomacy and civility, and command respect of both internal and external audiences.​ Ability to support complex projects until successful completion in an organized, efficient, and effective manner. Desired Skills: Law degree with strong academic credentials. Admitted to a cantonal bar is a plus.​ At least 8 years of successful experience as in house counsel in an international environment and/or in top tier law firms. ​ Excellent knowledge and evidenced practice of Swiss law and notably in the following areas: Civil Law and Competition Law- Knowledge of food, luxury food, medical devices and pharmaceuticals is a plus.​ Excellent spoken and written fluency in English.
