Your ‘day to day’ You will be part of the External Affairs function of Philip Morris International in Brussels. Your role will be to develop and execute fiscal affairs strategies envisaging the current and future PMI product portfolio of Smoke-Free Products (SFP) and you will be assessing the appropriate tax framework that will help to accelerate the switch of smokers from combustible tobacco products to smoke-free products. As an integral member of the Economic & Fiscal Affairs Team, you will help to develop, handle, and execute our public affairs policy agenda on economic and fiscal matters, engaging with external parties (governmental/non-governmental) at the EU and Member State level. In this role, you will be collaborating with fiscal experts, economists and will work in close coordination with the Commercialization, R&D, Regulatory Affairs and Finance Teams. You are expected to understand taxation, economics, public finance matters and related policies; You’ll be also be a close business partner and expert advisor to senior management to manage tax and pricing issues for a multicategory portfolio of innovative tobacco and nicotine products, to secure business predictability, stability, and profitability. Your success, will be driven by your enthusiasm, creativity and interest of exploring different business models. Responsibilities will include: • Conduct literature research in the areas of taxation, economics, tax incentives and industrial policy • Serve as a think-tank on fiscal and economic aspects of smoke-free products • Support the development and assessment of appropriate tax frameworks for smoke-free products transformation, liaising with economists and public finance experts • Contribute to the development of smoke-free products fiscal strategies envisaging current and future PMI product portfolio • Manage Europe and Global taxation data and develop tools to assist the External Affairs teams in the countries which are part of Europe region • Coordinate fiscal affairs related activities in close contact with Commercialization, R&D, Regulatory, Finance and Indirect Tax Teams in PMI and Europe Region • Advise management on policy risks and opportunities • Develop and deploy to stakeholders written content, such as policy position papers, legislative summaries, and government relations materials such as draft letters, submissions and leave-behinds. Challenges: • How to communicate with key stakeholders on company strategic plans and tax-industrial policy positions within a restricted and volatile external environment • In order to create and ensure a predictable and positive environment for the company to operate in, the ability to analyze current situation and foresee future development is crucial • The position requires strong communications skills and good experience of contacts and dialogue with external stakeholders, especially government officials Who we’re looking for: • BSc or Master’s Degree in Economics, Public Finance, Business Administration or related fields • Senior working experience in strategy consultancy, fiscal policy consultancy, international finance organization, or highly regulated industries. • Good understanding of government decision making process on fiscal-tax and public accounts matters • Experience in government related organizations or economic agencies is a plus • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to build business models and run pricing and fiscal scenario analysis • Must be curious on business matters and a self-starter, who eagerly and openly shares with others, exchanging ideas and being Inspired to pursue new ideas in a highly dynamic environment • Ability to collaborate in cross functional teams • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills • Fluent in English; excellent writing skills in English What we offer: Our success depends on the men and women who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
